Ministry Fair 2008
September 29, 2008
I met with Phillip and Desiree this morning to begin making tenative plans for a Ministry Fair to be held on October 12 during the Sunday school hour. We hammered out some basic plans, only to have many questions raised at our staff meeting this afternoon about the details of when and how. We, church program staff, decided it would be best to host this event in the CLC gym instead of Wesley Hall due to the other events planned in Wesley Hall on Oct. 12. Furthermore, the gym will give us more room to set up displays and will allow us to have the Journey Group round-up during the same event. What are your ideas about this?
How will we motivate people to walk over the gym for such an event? Good question. I am glad you asked. Here is what I propose…Clete has agreed to serve all food in the gym as an incentive to visit the ministry fair. There will not be food in The Gathering Room or Wesley Hall for this particular Sunday. If people want to eat, they will have the walk 200 feet over to the gym to get it. See, we are promoting wellness, too! In addition, there will be more than the traditional donuts and coffee served. He will prepare some special things like sausage and biscuits, etc.
Now, how do we begin to get the word out to all ministry area leaders and journey group leaders, Phil and Desiree?
Anybody else have thoughts about some new and exciting things we can offer at the minsitry fair? I would like to use a different name than “Ministry Fair”, too. How about something with a sports theme and includes words like, “team”, etc.?
Retreat Date Set!
September 29, 2008
Hey guys,
We have set a tenative, but fairly firm, date for our Christian Formation Team retreat. It is going to be Saturday, October 11, from 8:00 a.m. until noonish. Lunch and coffee will be provided. Location: Covenant Coffee House.
On the agenda for the retreat: establishing a strategic plan to recruit and train new Journey Group leaders, recruit new group participants, and launch 12 new groups in the spring.
Post your thoughts on these agenda items…
